There is a brass drop handle and an old lock which is essential to its proper functioning as this ensures that the shutter stays up when locked. There is a small recess in the top panel which can be fitted with a leather top and place the gramophone/ turntable. There are two removable hardwood shelves used to hold the records. Besides being restored to function as a gramophone cabinet, this can be used for crockery storage or a hallway piece.
