Colonial Pedestal Desk
DESCRIPTION
A small pedestal Bengal Colonial Desk of very unique proportions with a cabinet of four drawers on one side and two shelves on the other. Typical to this style, the drawers are hidden by a single shutter. The bottom of the pedestals have plinths around the bases and rest on bun feet. Once restored, the moulded table top will be inlaid with a large panel of leather. The small size of this desk makes it very desirable for use in rooms with limited space.

RESTORATION
The bun feet are somewhat loose and will need to be fixed into place. The top will be upholstered with leather; the brass hardware buffed to a shine and the entire piece will be finished with traditional hand polish and wax.
HISTORICAL CONTEXT
These first appeared in England in the 17th century and were widely used in the 18th and 19th century, when they became more popular than the secretary table or writing desk. Since the two pedestals and table top could be removed, it was also popular with the military as a campaign desk.

A. Avoid direct sunlight, drastic changes in temperature, moisture & humidity.
B. Dust it with a clean soft rag to avoid dust buildup
C. Avoid placing sharp objects next to it.
D. Canvas art should not be framed with glass as it needs to breathe.
E. Do not use a damp cloth to clean or dust.

RETURNS
We take special care to ensure that your artwork reaches you in perfect condition. But in the rare event of any damage incurred during shipping, incorrect product delivery or size mismatch please notify us within 24 hours with photographic evidence of the issue and we will initiate a replacement. For our customers outside India, the shipping charges for returning the item will be borne by the customer. Returns or exchanges in any other case will not be possible.
DELIVERY
For any delivery related issues or if your order is not delivered within:
1. 10 days of order placement (for unframed items)
2. 20 days of order placement (for framed orders) and
3. 5 weeks of order placement (for handmade items)

For our customers outside India, Customs Duty & any other applicable tax may apply at the time of delivery depending on the laws of your country. The prices shown on our website do not cover these charges. Please refer to the customs portal of your country to know the exact charges, if any.
For our customers within India, GST will be charged at checkout as per the laws of the country. Please note that GST will also apply for customers shipping outside India but paying from an Indian bank or card account.
