This artwork is part of an exhibition titled "Golden Forest", where abstract landscapist Raghu Neware unveils the full range of his creative vision that has earned him national renown over the past three decades using a rich palette of crimson and vermillion with streaks of golden yellow and black for vivid textural effects. A deep sense of reverence for nature and the wonder and mystery of creation permeates this work.
A strong desire to capture the rustic milieu and spiritual essence of his native Vidarbha region led Raghu to live six years in the jungle in Chandrapur. Like the tigers prowling the world famous Tadoba Andhari Reserve in his company, he made the woods his own domain. "Out there in the open, I could breathe in the freshness of nature and observe her ever changing forms in the minutest detail," he explains. "From sunrise to sunset I saw how the colours and textures changed as the light cast its magic spell. I spent long afternoons in quiet contemplation of the three changing seasons trying to depict nature in repose and the idea of paintings as 'talking pictures' took root in me," he says.
