The piece is in good condition with original hardware and a working lock with a key. There is some staining around the key hole making that area slightly darker than the chest.
The piece was cleaned and given a hand of natural polish with a protective coat of clear wax. Original brass hardware has been buffed to shine. Two missing removable partitions were added to the bottom drawer. 2.75" high glass vials have been added to make the chest more usable.
Homeopaths Chests were commonly used as a home remedy kit. There was a top open space with a perforated wooden screen to hold glass vials. There were one or two drawers which were used to hold the homeopathic medicine bottles, stethoscope, reference books, etc.
