Vintage Canning Steamer Chair
DESCRIPTION
This folding deck chair in solid rosewood with a carved top rail and a central caned panel, seat & leg rest is an extremely comfortable piece ideal for a verandah or lounge corner. It can be folded and stored when not in use. The unique design allows it to be used for varying positions with legs completely straight or folded comfortably at the knees.

DELIVERY
6 - 8 weeks
CONDITION
This piece is in good condition. When we sourced the piece it had been restored replacing the missing leg rest with a new mahogany wood one.
RESTORATION
The chair is finished with traditional natural polish and wax. The added leg rest is polished to match the main chair. The caning weave is a 7-step pattern with intermittent diagonals using Assam cane.
HISTORICAL CONTEXT
The Europeans were constantly travelling between Europe and colonies and being on the move necessitated taking chairs with them. Folding steamer chairs became familiar sights on ships that traveled to foreign ports. Later, they appeared in tents and on verandas as plantation chairs.
It is important to take good care of your art so you can cherish it for decades to come. Here are some Dos & Don'ts
A. Avoid direct sunlight, drastic changes in temperature, moisture & humidity.
B. Dust it with a clean soft rag to avoid dust buildup
C. Avoid placing sharp objects next to it.
D. Canvas art should not be framed with glass as it needs to breathe.
E. Do not use a damp cloth to clean or dust.

RETURNS
We take special care to ensure that your artwork reaches you in perfect condition. But in the rare event of any damage incurred during shipping, incorrect product delivery or size mismatch please notify us within 24 hours with photographic evidence of the issue and we will initiate a replacement. For our customers outside India, the shipping charges for returning the item will be borne by the customer. Returns or exchanges in any other case will not be possible.
DELIVERY
For any delivery related issues or if your order is not delivered within:
1. 10 days of order placement (for unframed items)
2. 20 days of order placement (for framed orders) and
3. 5 weeks of order placement (for handmade items)

For our customers outside India, Customs Duty & any other applicable tax may apply at the time of delivery depending on the laws of your country. The prices shown on our website do not cover these charges. Please refer to the customs portal of your country to know the exact charges, if any.
For our customers within India, GST will be charged at checkout as per the laws of the country. Please note that GST will also apply for customers shipping outside India but paying from an Indian bank or card account.
